Topsfield, MA April 17, 2017 – MedData Group, LLC a leader in data-driven solutions fueling healthcare professional engagement, announces the latest findings from their MedData Point physician survey. MedData Point is a market research program powered by MedData Group that collects and analyzes data to provide healthcare marketers with insights into the latest trends, technologies and perceptions in healthcare among physicians across a variety of specialties, ages, and practice sizes.

Pharmaceutical companies are one of the largest advertisers in the overall marketplace and across all media. They spend billions of dollars annually investing in marketing and advertising directly to consumers and to healthcare professionals (HCPs). In this survey we asked physicians to provide us with their opinions on pharmaceutical advertising directly to consumers as well as directly to providers. Based on 600 physician responses, MedData Group found that over half of physicians were against pharmaceutical advertising to consumers, and many would like to see them outlawed. Conversely, 75% of physicians were receptive to receiving direct to physician pharma advertisements.

Results of this survey indicate that while physicians are open to receiving ads from pharmaceutical companies, the majority feel that ads directed at consumers do more harm than good. For more information on the data, please read on for the full findings.
