Topsfield, MA June 15, 2016 MedData Group, LLC a leader in providing data solutions and demand generation services to the professional healthcare community, announces the latest findings from their MedData Point physician survey. MedData Point is a market research program powered by MedData Group that collects and analyzes data to provide healthcare marketers with insights into the latest trends, technologies and perceptions in healthcare among physicians across a variety of specialties, ages, and practice sizes.

Telehealth is revolutionizing the healthcare industry.  Patients are demanding services that allow them to connect to their physician no matter the time or location. The question is, ‘How is telehealth helping (or hurting) physician practices’? In this survey we gain insight into physicians’ opinions on telehealth, what they see as the advantages and disadvantages, and what their practice plans are for offering patients televisits. Based on 198 physician responses, MedData Group found only 3.8% of physicians said they were already working with a third-party telehealth service, and 44% of physicians said they have no interest in offering telehealth services at this time. Despite the slow adoption, physicians do recognize the advantages. The top advantage of telehealth identified by physicians was the ability to see patients more regularly. There is no difference across age of physician or practice type in their opinions of telehealth.

Results of this survey indicate that while physicians do see some advantages and benefits to telehealth, they are still reluctant to adopt these services. For more information on this survey, please on Physician Insights into Telehealth.
